Years of chronic pain took a toll on Lance. Unable to work, he tried navigating the maze of social services but was beginning to lose hope. That all started to change the day Lance and his teen daughter, Emily, arrived at Path Home’s Family Village Shelter.

"As soon as the ball started rolling, I saw progress where I hadn’t before," Lance said, reflecting on his early days in shelter. For the first time in a long time, Lance felt he could trust that things would get better because of the support he was receiving from Path Home.

“Everything was taken care of and I didn’t have to worry,” he shared, starting to think, “Maybe I can right this ship.”

Once Lance stabilized in shelter, he began working with Path Home’s housing team to find a long-term home. This team helps families search and apply for housing, supports them in their move, and provides rental assistance and wrap-around services for about a year.

Lance and Emily are now anchored in permanent supportive housing.
